“Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls”
Gender inequality is deeply woven into India’s social, cultural, economic, and political fabric. Despite progress in areas like female literacy and maternal health, India continues to rank poorly on global gender indices — ranked 127th out of 146 in the Global Gender Gap Report 2024.
Women face disparities in wages, limited land and asset ownership, restricted mobility, and high unpaid care burdens. Violence against women — including child marriage, domestic abuse, and online harassment — remains a major concern. Even in urban spaces, women’s safety and mobility are significantly compromised.
Achieving gender equality isn’t just a moral imperative — it's critical for economic growth, better governance, and social development.
Navumeed’s work on gender equality is rooted in intersectionality — recognizing the layered impact of caste, class, disability, and location.
